They say that baseball is not a contact sport. Well, this would normally be true. However, there occasionally can be some contact at home plate between the runner and the catcher.
One of the biggest hits we have seen at home plate was courtesy of then-rookie Ray Lankford, when he laid out Darren Daulton.
After a force play at second base, Lankford bolted towards home, looking to score. Seeing the ball get their first, he knew he had to knock it out, and that is exactly what he did.

Lankford lowered his shoulder and looked like a linebacker hitting the hole and making a huge hit on a running back. He knocked the ball out for the score, which ended up being the game-winning run.
