After more than 18 months of fighting pancreatic cancer, Jeopardy! host and beloved gameshow icon Alex Trebek tragically passed away at the age of 80 years old this Sunday, Nov. 8.

Trebek's personality was one of great admiration, an obvious reason behind his immense success as a record-setting gameshow host, and that personality didn't shy away from sports fandom either.

Just ask this Jeopardy! contest from Illinois about that in this episode that aired prior to the Chicago Cubs winning their first World Series in more than 100 years back in 2016.

You have to love how Trebek simply couldn't help himself from getting in that Cubs' jab on the formerly-known "Lovable Losers" with mention of that missing World Series trophy from his wedding's surprise groom's cake.

This was, of course, all in good fun and taste, especially knowing that the Cubs would go on to win that elusive World Series title in 2016. And it's captured moments like this that will always allow Trebek and his wonderful personality to live on in our hearts and minds well after his passing this Sunday.
