For anyone arguing that pitchers shouldn't bat in the National League anymore, you may want to use this video as evidence. Here's Jake Peavy batting for the San Francisco Giants towards the end of his career.

After missing a pitch from Washington Nationals starter Gio Gonzalez, the bat goes helicoptering out of Peavy's hands into the crowd behind the third baseline dugout. Somehow, a fan snags it before it can do any damage.

Congratulated with a couple high fives and even a kiss from his significant other (who might have been taken out if not for the quick reaction), this man looks to be on top of the world after catching the piece of lumber.

You have to credit this to good form; body in front of the flying object, hand-eye coordination, never even one moment of fear. Hopefully, they let him keep the souvenir, but either way, this will be a day at Nationals Park that this fan will remember forever.
