VIDEO: NFL Expert Picks Chiefs Defense as Most Dangerous in AFC
By Max Staley

The Kansas City Chiefs' defense is wildly underrated. Naturally, Patrick Mahomes and the offense receive most of the attention, but this defense was quietly one of the league's best units last season.
In fact, NFL analyst and former player Nate Burleson said that he believes the Chiefs are actually the most dangerous defense in the AFC.

Looking at the numbers, Burleson's claims are not quite as outlandish as they might initially appear. Last season, the Chiefs had the league's sixth-best pass defense, according to Football Outsiders' DVOA metrics. Kansas City also posted top-12 marks in both sacks (45) and quarterback hits (96).
The Chiefs surrendered the seventh-fewest points per game (PPG) last season, which was the fifth-best such mark in the AFC. It might not be as complete as some of the league's other top defenses, but Kansas City boasts some top-tier talents, like Chris Jones, Frank Clark and Tyrann Mathieu.

Whether or not the Chiefs definitively have the most dangerous defense in the AFC remains up for debate, but it's time for this unit to get the credit it deserves.
