It's been far too long that New Orleans Saints fans have enjoyed watching wide receiver Michael Thomas in live football action. He hasn't officially suited up since Week 14 of the 2020 season, but the expectation was for former Offensive Player of the Year to make his long awaited return this summer.

Thomas did just that on Wednesday, a day after veterans around the NFL officially reported to training camps.

The Saints posted a video on Twitter of Thomas competing in passing drills, and he looked as good as ever. Check out the video below.

Michael Thomas Return

From the burst of speed in the start of this route, to the soft hands in his reception, and of course the fancy footwork down the sideline on this out-route, Thomas looked like his old self.

Thanks to his recent stretch of injuries, Thomas has only played 4.5 seasons of football since his rookie year in 2016. The elite pass-catcher touts an Offensive Player of the Year award, three Pro Bowls and two All-Pro nominees in that time. He's also tallied at least 1,000+ receiving yards in all four seasons he played at least 15 games.

Thomas began the 2021 campaign on the inactive list thanks to an ankle surgery last summer. While there was original expectation he would return mid-season, a setback caused him to miss the entirety of the season.

New Orleans' receiving core struggled without their No. 1 option and no wide receiver tallied above 700 yards through the air.

Thomas returns with Jameis Winston under center and should be a prime candidate for the Comeback Player of the Year award depending on his performance. For now, the Saints hold +132 odds to make the playoffs on FanDuel Sportsbook.
