The college linebacker position can be one of the more challenging transitions into the NFL. Size, intelligence, play recognition and speed are all factors that go into determining which prospects are likely to sink or swim at the pro level.
Penn State star Micah Parsons is currently trying to prove his draft worth in 2021, and he just checked one of those four boxes above with his 40-yard dash time.
Parsons ended up being credited with a 4.39 dash, which is incredible in comparison to others at his position. In fact, top cornerback draft prospect C.J. Henderson ran the exact same time in 2020. This should definitely boost the draft status of Parsons, who's expected to be the first linebacker off of the board this year.
The Nittany Lions standout decided not to play in 2020, but he totaled 109 tackles, with 5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles and 5 pass defenses as a sophomore in 2019. Parsons would probably fit in as a Mike-backer in the NFL, but only time will tell where the prospect lands.
