Most American hockey fans know that Canadians take their hockey fandom quite seriously north of the border, but a group of Toronto Maple Leafs fans took things to the next level Sunday.
Following the Maple Leafs' 4-2 win over the Boston Bruins at home in Toronto to force a Game 7 in their first-round NHL playoff series, a group of fans took to the streets for a little flammable extracurricular activity.
Amid the excitement and chaos of the Game 6 win, one Leafs' fan actually set a lone Bruins' fan on fire, setting his Boston jersey ablaze in an act of rage. Or, at least, that's how it appeared.
I think it's safe to say NHL fans whose favorite team is in the Stanley Cup Playoffs this year, especially Bruins' fans, can take a deep sigh of relief after learning it was simply a stunt.
The Bruins and Maple Leafs face off in a Game 7 back in Boston on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. EST.
