Jacoby Brissett has been the Cleveland Brows starting quarterback through the first 12 weeks of the season, but that position always had an expiration date on it. With Deshaun Watson eligible to return form his suspension for the Browns Week 13 game against the Houston Texans, Brissett will now transition once again to his backup role.
After a thrilling overtime victory at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Brissett was emotional walking off the field for the last time as the starter.
He was being applauded and thanked by the fans as he made his way off the field. Brissett has managed to keep the team alive in the playoff race, sitting at 4-7. They have a hill to climb for sure, but the Browns are still mathematically in it.
Brissett was noticeably emotional hearing all of this appreciation from the fans on the way back to the locker room.
Clearly a player beloved and respected by both his fellow players and the fans, Brissett deserves the love he's getting. He handled a tough and unique situation with class and hard work and never took any of it for granted.
The Browns will now prepare for a Week 13 game against the Texans with Watson under center for the first time ever. Cleveland is a 7-point road favorite, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's latest NFL odds.
