One of the biggest storylines of this NFL offseason has been the trade of quarterback Matthew Stafford from the Detroit Lions to the Los Angeles Rams. Many fans are hoping he is the missing piece that can help take this Rams squad over the top and into the Super Bowl.
Well, they got their first look at the veteran signal-caller as the Rams held their first practice of the year. Stafford joins a Rams team that finished the 2020 season with a 10-6 record. They are built on a strong defense and a fast-paced offense led by head coach Sean McVay.
Matthew Stafford Rams
Stafford brings 12 years of experience to the table and has already thrown for over 4,000 yards and 20 touchdowns in a season eight times in his career. In fact, one of those times was just last season. Stafford has yet to win an NFL playoff game, but the Rams are hoping that changes this upcoming season.
This is likely the most talent Stafford has had around him on offense since he was throwing to the great Calvin Johnson in the early 2010s. The receiving core is made up of Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp, Tyler Higbee and DeSean Jackson. Plus, he has a great pair of young running backs to work with in Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson Jr. as well.
The Stafford-led Rams currently have odds set at +190 to win the NFC West division, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. They also have the sixth-best odds to win the Super Bowl at +1400.
