VIDEO: Corey Bojorquez Just Smashed the Punt of the Year
When the Green Bay Packers acquired punter Corey Bojorquez during the offseason, the team brought in one of the biggest legs across the league. That was clearly evident on Sunday in Week 6 when Bojorquez smashed an early "punt of the year" nominee.
While punt of the year may not be a legit NFL award, that takes nothing away from this awesome display of length from Green Bay's new punter.
To close out the third quarter, in a game the Packers led the Chicago Bears by 10 points, Bojorquez unloaded a massive 82-year punt. Punting is of underrated importance in the league. Seriously, look at this massive change of field position.
On the year, Bojorquez owns 15 punts for an average of 45.7 yards per attempt. Last season, the fourth-year veteran led the league with a long punt of 72 yards and averaging 50.8 yards per punt. This 82-yard strike would be the longest of his NFL career.
The NFL record is held by Steve O'Neal, who set the record for the New York Jets with a 98-yard punt in 1969.
