There's not many moments in life that could compare to making your debut as a professional athlete. After years and years of effort, the combination of pride, nerves, excitement could all be rather overwhelming.
Toronto Blue Jays rookie Alek Manoah enjoyed one of the moments on Thursday afternoon during Game 1 of a doubleheader against the New York Yankees. Imagine all of those feelings and the fact of that debut taking place at Yankee Stadium.
Well, Manoah's family was in the crowd to watch this monumental moment. The broadcast team caught his mom's reaction to this debut, and his first-ever MLB strikeout, and it's simply priceless.
This kind of reaction is only worthy of the world of sports. You can visibly see his mom yelling "Let's Go Baby," emphatically and is in tears as she watches along.
The Blue Jays are hopeful for a strong outing from Manoah as they chase the Yankees in a tight AL East race. Toronto sits in fourth place with a 24-23 overall record. However, they trail the Yankees sitting in third (28-20) by just 3.5 games. Better yet, the division-leading Tampa Bay Rays only have 5.5 games on Toronto.
The AL East should continue to play tight throughout the summer. Currently, the Blue Jays own +2400 odds to win the World Series, according to the latest MLB odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
