The No. 1-seed Virginia Cavaliers face the Cinderella No. 5-seed Auburn Tigers this Saturday afternoon, kicking off the 2019 NCAA Final Four. The Cavaliers are currently 5.5-point favorites over Auburn, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, but the Tigers have proven underdog status means nothing to them.
That being said, consulting a few expert opinions before placing a bet could go a long way in this one. Here are a few expert predictions for Saturday's Final Four showdown between Virginia and Auburn.
Auburn vs Virginia Predictions for Final Four
Sports Chat Place
Sports Chat Place is predicting a Tigers' upset over Virginia, citing Auburn's outside shooting as the perfect answer to Virginia's top-ranked scoring defense. The Cavaliers are allowing just 55.4 points per game (PPG) on the season, but Auburn has averaged 85.25 PPG on offense through its four tournament games thus far.
College Football News
Pete Fiutak, of College Football News, believes the Cavaliers, who sport the second-best 3-point shooting defense in the country, will do just enough neutralize Auburn's perimeter shooting. Fiutak is also predicting a 67-64 final in favor of Virginia.
Winners and Whiners
Chris Kubala, of Winners and Whiners, is taking Virginia to win and cover the spread, claiming the Cavaliers' superior scoring defense and experience will be what pushes them past Auburn.
ESPN Basketball Power Index Matchup Predictor
ESPN's BPI is overwhelmingly in Virginia's corner, giving the Cavaliers a decisive 79.7 percent chance of winning this one.
Overall, three of the four experts highlighted here are backing the Cavaliers to move on to the NCAA Tournament Final, but two experts are predicting that the Tigers cover the spread.
