The Jacksonville Jaguars are headed toward a new era with head coach Urban Meyer in town. Also with the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Jacksonville will start building around presumptive No. 1 pick Trevor Lawrence in free agency.

Meyer could tap into his Ohio State roots to help the Jaguars land one intriguing free-agent wide receiver.

Curtis Samuel Jaguars

It's being theorized that Carolina Panthers wideout Curtis Samuel may be swayed by Meyer to land in Jacksonville this offseason.

Meyer was head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes for each of Samuel's three collegiate seasons. Samuel split his duties as a running back and receiver, totaling 1,286 yards and 15 TDs on the ground along with 1,249 yards and 9 scores as a receiver.

He went on to be a second-round pick of the Panthers and has enjoyed some success at the NFL level, grabbing 185 receptions for 2,087 yards and 14 TDs across four seasons in Carolina.

His numbers wouldn't put him among the league's best at his position, but he still has room to grow after transitioning to wideout, making Samuel an affordable-yet-intriguing free-agent target. He'd immediately boost the Jaguars' WR depth, which should be a focus for Jacksonville as Lawrence steps in as the starter.
