Updated Quarterback Depth Chart for Texans After NFL Draft
By Larry Rupp

Quarterbacks were the talk of the 2021 NFL Draft given a deep class at the position. Five QBs went in the first round alone, though several talented prospects were taken after that and picked up as undrafted free agents.
The Houston Texans' relationship with Deshaun Watson remains murky, which may have had an impact on their draft selections. Houston ended up taking a signal-caller in the third round.
Here's a look at the Texans' updated QB depth chart for 2021.
Texans QB Depth Chart 2021
1. Deshaun Watson
There remains uncertainty about whether or not Deshaun Watson will play for the Texans this season, but he is locked in as their starter for now. He is in the midst of a 4-year contract extension worth $156 million and has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last three seasons. Watson balled out in 2020 by leading the league with 4823 passing yards and throwing 33 touchdowns compared to just 7 interceptions.
2. Tyrod Taylor
Tyrod Taylor was signed to a one-year deal this offseason to provide the Texans with a high-quality backup option at the position. The veteran quarterback has a 24-21-1 record in the NFL and a career TD-INT ratio of 54-20. He led the Los Angeles Chargers to a win in his lone start of the 2020 season before going down with an injury.
3. Davis Mills
The Texans did not have a draft pick until the third round this year and they used their first of two to draft Stanford quarterback Davis Mills at No. 67 overall. Mills completed 65.5% of his passes for 3,468 yards and 18 touchdowns in two college seasons. He will get to learn under Watson and Taylor as the Houston's potential quarterback of the future.
4. Ryan Finley
Ryan Finley was another offseason addition as the Texans traded a sixth-round pick in order to acquire him from the Cincinnati Bengals. He has appeared in eight NFL games and thrown for 638 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also posted 4 interceptions in those games and was sacked 20 times as well. He will likely have to fight to make the roster during training camp.
