The Atlanta Hawks fired head coach Nate McMillan halfway through his third season in the position. With multiple reported rifts with star point guard Trae Young over his perceived lack of leadership, on top of underperformance on the court by the whole team, it was only a matter of time before the Hawks showed McMillan the door.

Atlanta is quickly working to find a new head coach, not wasting any time in their search, already finding their top target. The Hawks are hoping to sign former Utah Jazz head coach Quin Snyder to the same position.

The two sides have met and talks are progressing toward a deal being signed in the coming days, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Atlanta is zeroed in on Snyder and doesn't seem to be considering any other candidates at this time. Snyder spent eight seasons as Utah's head coach before mutually parting ways with the franchise after last season. He compiled a 636-372 record in that time.

It was expected Snyder would get another job, but not everyone was sure it would be this quick. Regardless, Snyder is still consdered one of the premier coaches in the NBA so it's no wonder why Atlanta wants him at the front of the bench.
