Undrafted Rookie Stands up Giants for CFL Training Camp

The New York Giants were expecting undrafted rookie Tre Ford to be one of two quarterbacks at Friday's rookie minicamp. The 24-year-old was invited to play both QB and wide receiver but didn't end up showing up by the time the session concluded.
It turns out that Ford stood the Giants up so that he could attend the Edmonton Elk's CFL training camp. The Elks selected the Niagara Falls, Ontario native eighth overall at the 2022 CFL Draft and likely have high expectations for him.
Figured out why the Giants only had one QB yesterday.. the plan was to have two, but Tre Ford decided to head to the Edmonton Elks camp, rather than play both QB & WR at Giants rookie minicamp.

New York Giants News
Ford had participated in the Baltimore Ravens' minicamp earlier this week but didn't impress enough to earn a return invitation. Although there's no bigger football league than the NFL, it makes sense for him to stick around in Canada due to the Elks actually having drafted him.
Ford was impressive during his final season at the University of Waterloo, leading all U Sports quarterbacks in completion percentage (74.1%) and touchdown passes (27). He also averaged 352.8 passing yards per game (No. 2) while finishing with only two interceptions.
Just because Ford is heading to the CFL doesn't mean an eventual return to the United States is ruled out. A couple of solid seasons north of the border could have NFL teams calling in a few years.
Meanwhile, former Michigan State QB Brian Lewerke is now the only player at his position on the Giants' rookie minicamp roster. He spent the majority of the 2021 season on New York's practice squad and will likely be the third-string QB next season.
