The Minnesota Twins are hoping to repeat as AL Central winners in 2020, and they will start that effort with a divisional showdown with the Chicago White Sox. The Twins have a talented team that currently sits as third-favorite to win the American League pennant in 2020 at FanDuel Sportsbook.

However, the Twins are going to face competition from the Cleveland Indians and Chicago White Sox, especially in a shortened season. Despite this, with the offseason additions of Josh Donaldson and Kenta Maeda, the Twins should feel good about their chances. They are currently slight underdogs on the road against the White Sox, despite having top pitcher Jose Berrios on the mound.

Twins vs White Sox Opening Day Moneyline

The Twins are currently sitting as slight -110 favorites on FanDuel Sportsbook with the White Sox at -104. Although the White Sox are playing at home, it's strange that the Twins aren't more heavily favored given the state of each team's roster. The Twins dominated the division last season and have only gotten better. While the White Sox have made improvements, it's hard to see them matching up well with Minnesota right now, especially in the bottom of the order.

Jose Berrios will start for the Twins on Opening Day. The righty had another All-Star season in 2020 and threw 200.1 innings with a 3.68 ERA. Opposing him will be Lucas Giolito, who also had a breakout season in 2020 with a 3.41 ERA over 176.2 innings, but has a less established track record of success.

While the pitching matchup is about even, it's clear that the Twins have a big advantage in terms of their lineup and defense. The White Sox are still not fully settled in their outfield and back of the order, while the Twins have one of the best top-to-bottom lineups in the major leagues. We also don't know how the White Sox's vaunted young talent like Luis Robert and Eloy Jimenez will perform this season, while the Twins have established major league talent throughout the roster. The Twins also have an advantage in their bullpen, as Taylor Rogers and Trevor May are set to repeat their strong results from 2019.

The White Sox can't be ruled as live underdogs given the pitching matchup and home-field advantage, but the Twins are still not earning the respect they deserve as one of the best teams in the American League. Either team could win, but the Twins should have the edge going into the long-awaited 2020 season opener.
