The Minnesota Twins currently sit atop the American League Central, but they're tied for just the 14th-best team ERA in baseball (3.88). Acquiring some help at the MLB Trade Deadline would be smart, and insider Mark Feinsand recently named the Twins a potential fit for starting pitcher Luis Castillo.
Minnesota Twins Trade Rumors
Castillo's name has been floated in trade talks for two years now, so it should be no surprise to learn he could be shopped in July. The 29-year-old started the season on the injured list before returning to the Cincinnati Reds in early May. He has been improving with every passing start since that time.
Over his last five outings, Castillo has posted a 2.45 ERA to go along with 30 strikeouts in 29.1 innings pitched. He has also showcased some longevity by going at least six innings four different times. The 2019 All-Star has one more season of arbitration eligibility before hitting the open market in 2024.
Minnesota has suffered their fair share of rotation injuries with rookie Joe Ryan and veteran Sonny Gray stuck on the injured list. Dylan Bundy's 5.87 ERA leaves a lot to be desired and rookie Cole Sands has gotten blown up in each of his last three starts. The depth is just not there right now.
Keep an eye on the Twins over the next month. The more they win, the more likely it becomes that they will be buyers at the deadline. Minnesota has odds set at +110 to win the AL Central and odds set at +4000 to win the World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
