The 2022 MLB season was a tale of two halves for Rocco Baldelli and his Minnesota Twins. After going 50-44 and leading the AL Central by two games at the All-Star break, the Twins fell apart down the stretch and wound up in third place, six games below .500.

While Baldelli will keep his job, Minnesota made a move to shake up its coaching staff shortly after the season ended.

It may not be as major as the firing of a manager or GM, but the Twins made a slight tweak to their staff. Team insider Dan Hayes reported on Monday that the team fired head athletic trainer Michael Salazar.

Hayes indicated in a later tweet that the rest of the staff is safe and no other changes are expected unless someone is poached to work for a different team.

Minnesota was particularly prone to injuries throughout the 2022 campaign. None of the position players played more than 144 games, while no pitcher completed 150 innings.

It's a small change, but hopefully one that can produce better results for the Twins next season. The team has talent, as evidenced by its strong first half, but it needs to do a better job of keeping that talent on the field.
