A cross-country battle between two playoff teams tips off tonight. The extremely shorthanded Philadelphia 76ers travel to the defensive-minded Utah Jazz tonight in an early-season battle for supremacy. In this prediction, let's dive into the 76ers vs. Jazz matchup and determine the best bet for this Tuesday Night NBA prediction.

Tuesday Night NBA Pick: 76ers vs. Jazz Prediction

Utah is entering this game off back-to-back losses against the Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers. Their home court is one of the most significant advantages in the league, and they will look to get back on track tonight. Philadelphia has faced extreme shorthandedness and is on a four-game losing streak of their own.

It's Not So Sunny in Philadelphia

No Joel Embiid, no Ben Simmons, no Danny Green, and no Matisse Thybulle; that's what Philadelphia has going for them entering this game. The 76ers defense is getting gashed without a middle presence, and they come into this game ranking in the bottom 10 in defensive turnovers (TO%) and defensive rebounding (DREB%) while ranking in the middle in defensive effective field goal percentage (eFG%) and free throw rate (FTR%). Philadelphia has given up 115 points or more in three straight games and is facing one of the best three-point shooting teams in the league.

Offensively, the 76ers are struggling as well. They are averaging 106 points per game during their four-game losing streak and are shooting 41.7% from the field during the same span. Philadelphia has been outrebounded in three of the four losses and faces a Utah team that ranks seventh in offensive rebounds and 10th in defensive rebounds. There will not be many second-chance points for this 76ers team tonight.

It's Time for Some Smooth Jazz

There's nothing like some home cooking to set things straight and get back on track. Utah hopes being home will provide the defensive spark they need and get their long-range shooters back on track. The Jazz has both a top-10 offense and defense, and they are juggernauts when on their home court.

Offensively, Utah boasts the sixth-best eFG%, seventh-best OREB%, and the best FTR in the league. They do turn the ball over more than head coach Quin Snyder would like, but the 76ers aren't known for being a defense to cause many turnovers as they rank 22nd in defensive TO% this season. With essentially a healthy roster, Utah should be able to do what they do best.

On defense, the Jazz rank top 10 in every category except for turnover percentage. Considering Philadelphia doesn't turn the ball over, to begin with, this should not be a factor in this game. Free throws will be a significant factor in this game as Embiid's 43.5% free throw rate will be missed going up against a Utah team that allows the ninth-fewest free throws and enjoys the highest offensive free throw rate in the league.

76ers vs. Jazz Prediction and Pick

The Sixers are missing key players across the board, and their offensive and defensive performance have suffered. Without Embiid tonight, Gobert should have little difficulty defending the paint and controlling the boards. Although Utah hasn't shown the elite defense that helped them dominate in seasons past, the lack of Embiid, Green, and Thybulle could help the Jazz dominate the Sixers' offense. I like the Jazz to cover the -10 spread at the FanDuel Sportsbook in tonight's Tuesday Night NBA matchup.
