Updated (Sunday, Nov. 22, 7:25 p.m. EST): Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores confirmed Tua Tagovailoa will be the team's starter in Week 12. Given how he's looked recently, Tua is not going to be on the fantasy radar unless you're playing in a 2-QB or format.
Miami Dolphins starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is on the bench, and his backup Ryan Fitzpatrick is in the game. At this point it's not clear if the switch was made due to injury, or Tua's underwhelming performance before exiting in Week 11 (11-of-20, 83 passing yards, 1 TD and 6 sacks).
Either way, it doesn't look like Tua is a lock to be under center next week. That could open the door for Fitzpatrick to return some low-end QB1 value if he draws the start in Week 12.
Ryan Fitzpatrick Fantasy Outlook
Before getting yanked in favor of the Dolphins' rookie, Fitzpatrick was actually fantasy's QB8. Considering we've seen him put together stretches like that in the past, it's not insane to think he'd be a decent QB1 for as long as he's at the helm. He should also benefit from two of the best matchups possible, facing the New York Jets and Cincinnati Bengals in Week 12 and 13, respectively.
Of course, fantasy managers will need to wait until there's a bit more clarity on the situation before making any decisions. Tua could easily step back in as the team's starter next week, which would once again make Fitzpatrick irrelevant for fantasy purposes.
Fantasy managers will need to monitor this situation throughout the week, as Fitzpatrick would be a great waiver wire target if he gets the chance to play in Week 12 and beyond.
