The kicker position is rarely more than an afterthought in fantasy football. Usually dismissed as an unfortunate necessity, many players simply draft their kicker and leave them plugged in as their starter until a bye week ultimately changes things.

That can leave a big edge for savvy fantasy owners though. The position tends to be inconsistent, but all three of our streaming picks in Week 8 scored at least nine fantasy points, each ranking eighth or better at the position.

Here are the top three fantasy football kicker streaming options, owned in less than 50 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Football leagues, for Week 9.

3. Daniel Carlson, Oakland Raiders (2% Owned)

The Oakland Raiders don't usually offer a ton of exciting fantasy value, but that should change against the Detroit Lions in Week 9. The Lions rank bottom-10 in Football Outsiders' defensive DVOA rankings, and they're allowing the seventh-most points per game. Daniel Carlson hasn't posted any huge games this year, but he's notched at least six fantasy points in five of seven, and this is a great spot for him to finally show some upside.

2. Sam Ficken, New York Jets (0% Owned)

Sam Ficken has been useless in fantasy football this year, thanks largely to the New York Jets' inability to get into scoring range, being held below seven points three times already in 2019. Now they get the Miami Dolphins though, who have given up a massive 34.0 points per game on the year (most in the NFL). Even the Jets should be able to move the ball a ton in this matchup, making Ficken a viable starting option for the first (and possibly only) time this season.

1. Stephen Hauschka, Buffalo Bills (4% Owned)

Stephen Hauschka took advantage of that Miami matchup two weeks ago with a season-high 11 fantasy points before dropping a dud in Week 8. This is a great spot for a bounce-back game though, with the Buffalo Bills sitting as 9.5-point favorites over the Washington Redskins on FanDuel Sportsbook. Washington ranks 24th in defensive DVOA, and the Bills should spend plenty of time in scoring position. Hauschka sits fifth among kickers in our Week 9 fantasy football rankings.
