The kicker position is rarely more than an afterthought in fantasy football. Usually dismissed as an unfortunate necessity, many players simply draft their kicker and leave them plugged in as their starter until a bye week ultimately changes things.

That can leave a big edge for savvy fantasy owners though. The position tends to be inconsistent, and last week's top streamer Joey Slye led the position with 16 fantasy points in Week 2 while sitting on the waiver wire in most leagues.

Here are the three top fantasy football kicker streaming options for Week 3.

3. Matt Gay, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' offense has struggled to open 2019, but things get much easier for them in Week 3 against a New York Giants team that ranks only 31st in's DVOA (defense-adjusted value over average) rankings. Matt Gay notched a reasonable eight fantasy points (tied for ninth at the position) in Week 2, and he will likely take another step forward with in a much-improved matchup this week.

2. Zane Gonzalez, Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals' fast-paced and pass-heavy approach under new head coach Kliff Kingsbury has been a boon for just about all of their players in fantasy football. Zane Gonzalez is tied for fifth among kickers with 22 fantasy points to start the year, finishing no worse than seventh in either week. Gonzalez is tied for first in the NFL for the most field goals attempted (seven), and he's gone a strong 14-of-16 on his attempts since joining the Cards late in the 2018 season. Gonzalez also hasn't missed a single one of his attempts from under 50 yards with Arizona either.

1. Joey Slye, Carolina Panthers

Slye leads all kickers with 27 fantasy points, having notched 11 in Week 1 and 16 in Week 2. He's not perfect on his seven attempts like Gonzalez is, but the Carolina Panthers clearly trust his leg, and he's already had four attempts from 50-plus yards out. The Panthers are in a favorable spot facing the Cardinals in Week 3, and despite being owned in only 15 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Football leagues, Slye sits sixth among kickers in our Week 3 fantasy football rankings.
