Few defenses are true every-week starting options in fantasy football. That's why "streaming" the position, picking defenses off the waiver wire as needed every week, can be such a useful strategy.
These three defenses are the top waiver wire streaming options in Week 7.
3. Philadelphia Eagles (vs. NYG)
After a promising rookie season with the New York Giants, Daniel Jones is in the midst of a serious sophomore slump. He's thrown at least 1 interception in all but one game this year, averaging 1.0 while getting sacked 2.8 times per game. The Philadelphia Eagles' defense hasn't been anything special in 2020, but this one is all about the matchup.
2. New Orleans Saints (vs. CAR)
The Carolina Panthers offense has been a lot of fun this season, but it hasn't been without its struggles — especially in the tougher matchups. Teddy Bridgewater has a pair of 2-interception games this season (at TB and vs. CHI), and he was sacked a combined 9 times in those outings. The New Orleans Saints' D has quietly been terrific, checking in as a top-10 unit according to Football Outsiders' DVOA metric, and this could be another rough day for Bridgewater and company.
1. Los Angeles Chargers (vs. JAX)
The Los Angeles Chargers aren't far behind the Saints, at No. 12 in DVOA. They've struggled for fantasy purposes, but they've also largely been dealing with tough matchups. Their easiest was in Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals, and they scored 11 fantasy points in that one. The Jacksonville Jaguars have allowed the 11th-most fantasy points per game to opposing defenses. The Chargers' pass rush has also been solid all year, notching at least 6 QB hits in all but one outing, and they should see plenty of obvious passing situations to get after Gardner Minshew, as the Chargers are 7.5-point favorites on FanDuel Sportsbook.
