Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson has been notably absent from the lineup recently after being a stable presence all year. The White Sox star last played on Aug. 20, and even that was preceded by a rest day on Aug. 19.

Manager Tony La Russa provided an update on Anderson with the shortstop out for the third straight game on Monday.

Tim Anderson Injury Update

Anderson has "improved," according to La Russa, but is still battling some soreness. It was thought that Anderson's recent absences were just off days, rather than injury related, and this confirms it. It's clear that La Russa wants to give his shortstop the time he needs to recover from normal wear and tear that's accumulated to this point.

It might be a day or two before Anderson is back in the lineup, but that's an easy trade-off to get the 2021 All-Star back at 100%. He's recorded 14 home runs, 51 RBI and 17 stolen bases this season while slashing .303/.330/.460.

The White Sox own the third-best odds to win the World Series at +650, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
