TJ Watt Contract: Star Gives Update on Steelers Extension Talks

Pittsburgh Steelers star T.J. Watt is coming off of a dominant 2020 campaign where he finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting (some thought Watt was robbed). The former No. 30 overall pick is entering the last year of his rookie deal and the Steelers will be eager to lock up their EDGE star role long term.

Watt recently gave an update on his contract talks with the team.

Watt is keeping details on his extension talks quiet for the moment. It's a refreshing change of pace while other stars around the league are making their contract demands clear and putting their teams in awkward positions as minicamps get underway.

The former Wisconsin Badgers standout recorded a league-high 15.0 sacks in 2020 along with 41 QB hits, 23 tackles for loss, 2 forced fumbles and an interception.

His elite pass-rushing abilities and solid coverage skills make a contract extension a priority for Pittsburgh. Watt wanting to respect the negotiation process is a great sign that these two sides will work things out behind the scenes without any public drama.
