Last year, the Tennessee Titans made the AFC Championship Game by upsetting the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens. This surprise run established them as an AFC contender in 2020, but it appears the oddsmakers aren't so sure.
FanDuel Sportsbook has the Tennessee Titans as underdogs on the road against the Denver Broncos in their Week 1 matchup.
Titans vs Broncos Spread Week 1
The Titans are listed as 2.5-point underdogs for their season opener on the road against the Broncos, which comes as a surprise. Meanwhile, Denver finished a very unimpressive 7-9 last year. Quarterback Drew Lock is still unproven, along with much the Broncos' new offense.
Tennessee made some big offseason moves, signing pass rusher Vic Beasley, re-signing Ryan Tannehill and franchise tagging Derrick Henry. Although they lost Jurrell Casey, Jack Conklin, and Logan Ryan, the Titans made up for those positions in the 2020 NFL Draft with their first three picks. The Titans still have a solid offensive line and good defense, and if Tannehill and Henry can continue their MVP-caliber play, they should be in line for another successful year.
Interestingly, the Broncos biggest veteran acquisition was trading for Jurrell Casey from the Titans, who will have an instant chance at a revenge game. While many were a fan of the Broncos' offseason, whether those moves and players will pan out is a different story.
The Titans were 13 spots higher than the Broncos in DVOA last year. While playing on the road in the Mile High City is no easy task, it's surprising to see Tennessee as 2.5-point underdogs.
