The Tennessee Titans fought to secure a win in Week 4 over the Indianapolis Colts, though it may have come at a huge cost. Rookie Treylon Burks left the contest on a cart after injuring his left leg in the fourth quarter, making Titans fans very anxious to hear about his status after the game.
Well, the latest news on Burks is incredibly concerning.
Burks was seen leaving the Titans' locker room with crutches and a boot, according to Terry McCormick of TitansInsider.com. The rookie was carted back to the locker room with his cleat and sock removed from his left foot, so the presence of a boot seems to confirm that it is a lower-leg injury.
This is simply terrible news for the first-round pick. He's already battled through various ailments since being drafted by the team, but has shown flashes at times of why he was such a high draft pick. Now this injury appears to have the potential to sideline him for a potentially significant chunk of time.
Due to his health struggles, Burks has started his career off on a quieter note compared to his fellow rookie wideouts. The Arkansas product entered Sunday's contest with eight receptions and 115 yards over his first three games. He added another two catches for 14 yards in Week 4 prior to being forced to exit.
More clarity should arrive in the coming days on Burks' status, though it appears he's a longshot to suit up in Week 5 against the Washington Commanders.
