The Tennessee Titans surprised everyone last season. After starting the year 2-4, they won seven of their last 10 games and were one of the league's toughest, most physical teams down the stretch.
The Titans locked down Ryan Tannehill and signed Derrick Henry to a franchise tag, hoping to run it back in 2020. NFL analyst Peter King released his offseason power rankings, and it appears he thinks Tennessee will be tough yet again this season.
King put the Titans at No. 7 overall. That's the third-best ranking among all AFC teams, trailing only the top-ranked Kansas City Chiefs and No. 2-ranked Baltimore Ravens. It also puts them well ahead of their division rivals, as the Indianapolis Colts are listed at No. 14, and the Houston Texans are all the way down at No. 22. The Jacksonville Jaguars, meanwhile, are ranked dead last.
His assertion that Tennessee will be a contender yet again isn't exactly backed up by the oddsmakers, however. FanDuel Sportsbook gives the Titans +3000 odds to win Super Bowl LV, and that's just No. 16 in the league. Tennessee is also available at +165 to win the AFC South, giving the Titans the second-best odds in the division behind the Colts (+135).
Still, King's power rankings are likely a welcome sight for Titans fans, as he certainly seems optimistic about the team's chances in 2020 under head coach Mike Vrabel.
