As we enter May, some World Series contenders are starting to show their true colors while some dark-horse teams are revealing themselves as well.
While the three teams with the best odds – the Houston Astros, Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees – remain the same, there were some shakeups from other potential contenders.
Who Won the World Series in 2018
The defending World Series champion Boston Red Sox experienced a serious tumble. They held the second-best odds on Opening Day, but have since dropped from +650 to +1000, likely due to the disappointing start some of their stars have had.
The Arizona Diamondbacks' odds, on the other hand, have improved drastically since Opening Day. They sat at +7500 a few weeks ago and are now +3700 to win the World Series. The D-backs are in second place in the NL West, just one game behind the Dodgers.
The Tampa Bay Rays, who continue to lead the AL East, are now +2000 to win it all and compare well to other recent World Series champions.
With about five months left of regular-season baseball, these odds are sure to move again as pretenders become contenders and vice versa.
