This Surprise Player Will be Crucial to the Dolphins Offense in 2020
By Zach Brunner

After an active free agency period and big draft class, the Miami Dolphins are looking to improve their team quickly. Without a doubt, this team is miles ahead of last season, in terms of talent. Still, there are enough holes where there could be a lot of inconsistency, especially on offense.
The one surprise player that could be crucial to the offensive success of the Dolphins in 2020 is tight end Mike Gesicki.

Aside from the lack of overall talent and depth that hurt the Dolphins last season, they also suffered many injuries to the receiving corps. One of the big winners in this situation ended up being Gesicki.
After struggling in his first season, Gesicki started his breakout last year. He started only five of his 16 games, but he caught 51 passes for 570 yards and five touchdowns. At 6-foot-6, 250 pounds, Gesicki is the big weapon the Dolphins need in the red zone and one a young quarterback loves to pass to.
Gesicki is listed at tight end, but he is so athletic that Miami moves him all over the formation. Despite being 250 pounds, he ran a 4.55-second 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine.
Mike Gesicki really threw it and caught it himself ?

Since he is such a high-potential player and he has the ability to fill multiple roles, Gesicki's continued progression will be crucial to the success of this offense.
He can be the big target across the middle or in the red zone, but he is also capable of stretching the field, being a matchup nightmare for linebackers or safeties.
