The Pittsburgh Steelers only went 8-8 in the 2019 season, but considering they were playing with their second- and third-string quarterbacks, that was an impressive finish.

The success was largely driven by the defense, which has been one of the best in the NFL over the last few years.

That's right, the Steelers have a full 20.0 sacks more than any other team since 2017. The success has been incredibly consistent, too. They led the NFL in sacks with 56 in 2017, were tied for first with 52 in 2018, then led the NFL again with 54 in 2019.

The backbone of the pass rush has been T.J. Watt, who has 34.5 sacks since being drafted in 2017. Cameron Heyward is second on the team with 29.0, and Bud Dupree is third with 22.5 in that time.

With Ben Roethlisberger healthy again and being supported by an elite defense, the Steelers could be a real contender in the AFC in 2020.
