The Los Angeles Rams made one of the splashiest additions of the offseason, trading Jared Goff to the Detroit Lions in exchange for Matthew Stafford. Stafford has been with the Lions since entering the league in 2009, so this represents quite the shift for the Rams' new franchise QB.

And it certainly sounds like he's fired up about the change of scenery. Check out what Stafford had to say in an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio.

You know if you don’t have energy to move your wife and four kids and a dog and everybody out to California, you’re in a lot of trouble. So it’s definitely reenergized me.

Matthew Stafford

That's exactly the type of mentality Rams fans should want Stafford to have about this deal.

But there's reason to believe this trade could do more than just reenergize Stafford. It could totally change the way he's viewed around the league.

The former No. 1 overall pick is an absolutely perfect fit for Sean McVay's offense. Since 2019, Stafford has been a top-two passer in terms of EPA per play on play action passes. Despite that, Detroit called run fakes at a below-average rate during that time.

That certainly won't be the case with McVay and the Rams, who have used play-action passes at a top-three rate every single season since the coach took over.

The reenergized Stafford looks poised for a bounce-back season in 2021.
