The Houston Texans are in headlines for all of the wrong reasons right now. However, they still need to try and make their team better for next season, despite at least the short-term looking bleak. With a lack of draft capital, they must make some noise in free agency.
One of the biggest free agents for Houston this offseason is Will Fuller. It may take a lot to re-sign him. With the baggage that comes along with him, including injury history and suspension, it could be best to part ways. Still, the Texans need to get another pass catcher for whoever the starting quarterback is going to be.
With this in mind, the Texans should steal Corey Davis away from the Tennessee Titans in free agency.
Davis is coming off the best season of his career, totaling 65 receptions, 984 yards and five touchdowns in 14 games. The 6-foot-3, 26-year-old wide receiver has the physical tools needing to play in the NFL at a high level. He is also young, with a lot of football left to be played.
It seems fairly obvious that Houston is not playing for next season. They must be playing for a few years down the road. Signing a young, talented receiver for the long term seems to be the right move for this offense to sustain success.
