The Lions Need to Draft Jeffrey Okudah

The Detroit Lions are picking at No. 3 in the 2020 NFL Draft, but they are in better shape than most teams are when picking at that spot. Much of the Lions' struggles last year had to do with the loss of their starting quarterback Matt Stafford.
Now expected to be fully healthy once again in 2020, Stafford should be back to slinging the pigskin all around the field like he's accustomed to. That being said, the Lions definitely have plenty of needs that have to be addressed in the NFL Draft.

After trading away star cornerback Darius Slay to the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this offseason, cornerback has shot up to the top of the list of needs to for Detroit.
Sure they signed Desmond Trufant in free agency, but he's on the older side and Detroit will need to secure a long-term solution in the draft.
Jeff Okudah, out of Ohio State, is unanimously considered the best cornerback in the draft and should be readily available for the Lions at No. 3. Projecting to be a top lockdown corner at the next level, Okudah had three interceptions and nine passes defended in 2019. While those numbers might not seem eye popping, much of those were probably skewed because he wasn't easily thrown on.

Ohio State's Jeffrey Okudah is not here for inaccurate criticisms ? pic.twitter.com/0iGi2sQdfy
Coming from a school that has dubbed itself "DBU" thanks to a long list of successful cornerbacks coming out into the NFL of late, Okudah should be next in line of that pedigree.
The drop-off in talent after him at the position in this draft is considered to be rather significant too. If the Lions are looking for a true long-term replacement for Slay, Okudah is the only guy they should consider at No. 3.
