The Denver Broncos' Offseason Spending Proves Defense is Top Priority

Everyone has heard the phrase "defense wins championships." Well, the Denver Broncos have really decided to go all in on that idea this offseason.
In fact, the Broncos are spending more money on their defense than any other team in the NFL.
Per @Spotrac, the Broncos currently have the most cap dollars allocated to defense of any team in the NFL (~$123M; 57.3% of their cap).

They have the second-lowest cap allocation on offense (~$63M; 29.6%).
Denver has been known for its defense in recent years, even winning Super Bowl 50 because of it. In terms of average salary, Denver's three highest-paid players are all defenders (Von Miller, Jurrell Casey, A.J. Bouye). Miller leads the way with a 2020 cap hit of $25.6 million.
Conversely, Denver has spent the least amount on its offense of any NFL team. Of course, a lot of that is due to the fact that the Broncos quarterback Drew Lock only has a cap hit of $1.5 million in 2020.
Denver started to improve at the end of last season once Lock became the starter. Next year, though, fans will get to see if the heavy concentration of payroll on defense translates to wins, or if the Broncos will have to change course.
