The Buffalo Bills Need to Sign Todd Gurley Following Release From Rams

The Los Angeles Rams released running back Todd Gurley on Thursday afternoon, and the Buffalo Bills need to act quickly and scoop up the two-time All-Pro in free agency.

No doubt there's going to be some big risk for any team that wants to sign Gurley. Hampered by arthritis in his knee that he will never fully be rid of, injury concerns will follow him for the rest of his NFL career. We also saw his efficiency fall off in 2019 when the issues really started to come up.
His performance wasn't as bad as it may have seemed on the surface, however. The Rams' offense as a whole saw a significant drop in efficiency, and running backs' numbers tend to be tied pretty closely with the quality of their offense. Gurley showed flashes throughout the year as well, averaging one broken tackle per 10.6 rush attempts, which was a significant improvement over his one per 15.1 from 2018.
The Bills also won't need him to consistently handle a massive workload. Devin Singletary looked great as a rookie in 2019, and a one-two punch with Singletary and Gurley could ease the burden on both of them.
I'm so here for the people saying Todd Gurley isn't the same RB since injury.

As opposed to he was bad when they had a crappy OL, then great when they had the league's #1 run blocking OL in the NFL...then bad again when their OL fell to ruin.
Gurley's release also had much more to do with his contract than his play. Coming off a down year with injury concerns, he's not likely to command a huge deal this time around, reducing the amount of risk the Bills would be taking on with the signing.
Plenty of teams will likely have the same idea, that taking an inexpensive gamble on an All-Pro is worth the risk, so the Bills need to act quickly and scoop Gurley up while they still can.
