Texas Opens as Big Week 1 Favorite at Home Against Louisiana on FanDuel

The Texas Longhorns hired a new head coach in Steve Sarkisian this past offseason and head into the fall with high hopes after finishing the 2020 season in fourth place in the Big 12 with a 7-3 record (5-3 conference).
They open the season as big home favorites against the Louisiana Rajin' Cajuns.

The Longhorns are currently 9.5-point favorites over the Rajin's Cajuns, according to Week 1 college football odds posted on FanDuel Sportsbook. Louisiana has exceeded expectations over the last two seasons posting a combined 21-4 record to go along with two Bowl wins.
Although reports say Texas is set to join the SEC conference by 2025, the Longhorns remain in the Big 12 for now. They are set to compete for what seems to be an up-for-grabs conference title. Texas hasn't finished atop the Big 12 since they went 13-1 (8-0 conference) back in 2009.
Texas will have to adjust as longtime starting quarterback Sam Ehlinger joined the NFL. However, the the offense remains dangerous behind running back Bijan Robinson. The sophomore posted 899 yards from scrimmage and 6 touchdowns on 101 touches across 9 games played last season.
Lousiana may be an underrated team heading into the fall, but Texas is a big favorite in this matchup for a reason. The Longhorns averaged 42.7 points per game last season, which ranked as the fifth-highest mark in the nation.
Texas fans should be filled with optimism as Sarkisian will look to make an immediate impact when the season kicks off on September 4.
