The Los Angeles Chargers will have their eyes set on making the playoffs next season for the first time since 2018 behind breakout quarterback Justin Herbert. Well, it seems like Herbert's arsenal of weapons could improve as wide receiver Tyron Johnson has looked impressive during minicamp.
Johnson is a former undrafted free agent that showed flashes of greatness last season racking up 398 yards and 3 touchdowns on 20 receptions (19.9 yards per catch). Most of his production came in the last four games of the season as he proved he can be a reliable deep threat option for Herbert.
Reports say Johnson's route-running skills have improved from last season and that the coaching staff continues to hype him up due to his blazing speed. He will most likely be given the opportunity to contribute as the No. 3 WR behind starters Keenan Allen and Mike Williams.
The former Oklahoma State Cowboy posted 1,288 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns on 80 receptions across three college seasons (27 games played). If he can bring that level of consistency to the NFL, he could take a major leap in his second year.
The Chargers will be looking to keep up their firepower on offense after averaging 382.1 yards per game last season (No. 10 in NFL). They head into the fall with odds set +126 to make the playoffs and odds set at +3200 to win the Super Bowl, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
