With less than a week to go until the 2022-23 NBA season tips off, the Phoenix Suns are still looking to trade Jae Crowder. Crowder, who is in the final year of his contract, has been away from the team recently as he waits for the trade situation to get sorted out.
While the Suns are still searching for potential trade partners, there's at least one player they have their eye on as a possible return.
Jae Crowder Trade Rumors
One player that Phoenix is looking to acquire in return for Crowder is Jordan Clarkson of the Utah Jazz. The 30-year-old guard recently won Sixth Man of the Year for Utah during the 2020-21 season and is a reliable scorer, averaging 15.4 points per game for his career.
The Suns are ideally looking for more depth in the backcourt behind Chris Paul, who's 37 now and has been prone to injuries in recent seasons. They'd also like a player with more years of team control, as Crowder is set to be a free agent next offseason while Clarkson still has two years remaining on his contract.
While Clarkson seems like a good fit for Phoenix, the team will likely need to package another player or perhaps a draft pick with Crowder to entice Utah. Moving Crowder before the season starts would be preferable, so the Suns will have to move fast if they want to make a deal before then.
As it stands, Phoenix has the sixth-best championship odds (+1000) on FanDuel Sportsbook's NBA odds, while Utah is tied for the biggest longshot at +50000.
