NBA fans might not realize it, but Steven Adams is having a historic season for the Memphis Grizzlies.

While the New Zealand big man's surface-level stats might not jump off the page, he's doing something that only a handful of players have ever done in NBA history.

Memphis Grizzlies News

Adams is having one of the best seasons ever in terms of offensive rebounding. The 6-foot-11 center has been exceptional at crashing the boards on offense, pulling down an offensive rebound in 19.3% of available opportunities.

Only three players have topped 19% over the course of a full season, and they include some of the greatest rebounders in NBA history. Hall of Famers Moses Malone and Dennis Rodman were two of them, and former All-Star Jayson Williams was the third.

Needless to say, Adams is in some impressive company right now. It remains to be seen if the 29-year-old can maintain his blistering pace all season, especially since he's been a bit injury prone in the past. But there's no denying his success at cleaning the glass and giving his teammates second-chance opportunities have helped Memphis to a 12-8 start.

Thanks in large part to Adams, the Grizzlies are currently third in the Western Conference standings and are tied for the fourth-best odds of winning the conference (+750) on FanDuel Sportsbook's NBA odds.
