The MLB finalized its official 2022 postseason bracket on Tuesday night, leaving 12 teams fighting for an opportunity to take home the World Series title. Under the new postseason format, eight teams (four in each league) will battle it our in a best-of-three game Wild Card series.
One of the most highly anticipated battles features the 4-seed New York Mets and 5-seed San Diego Padres. On Wednesday, MLB finally announced when first pitch will be throughout this exciting Mets-Padres series.
Mets vs Padres Wild Card Start Times
Game 1 is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 7 with a primetime slot at 8:07 p.m. ET. All three of the potential games are featured in primetime, with Game 2 scheduled to kick off on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 7:37 p.m. ET and Game 3 on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 7:37 p.m. ET.
Per the MLB's new postseason format, all three games will be played at Citi Field in Queens, NY.
The Mets must recover quickly from their late-season NL East collapse. Once holding a 10.5-game division lead, New York faltered over the last month and the Atlanta Braves took home the division crown. This is still a dangerous Mets squad, evidenced by their 100 wins, easily the highest mark of any Wild Card team across both leagues.
San Diego touts plenty of firepower thanks to the midseason additions of Josh Hader, Juan Soto and Brandon Drury.
Current MLB playoff odds on FanDuel Sportsbook favor the Mets at -194 to defeat the Padres, who are +164 underdogs.
