Sony Michel Fantasy Value Could Improve With Poor Weather Conditions for Thursday Night Football
By Dan Israeli

Sony Michel finally broke out for the New England Patriots in Week 5, rushing 16 times for 91 yards and a touchdown while adding a career-high three receptions for 32 yards. He had struggled mightily on the ground to start the season, but he's still been Pats' preferred option on early downs and at the goal line.
New England will now play on a short week, hosting the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football in Week 6. Michel was likely ticketed for a big role regardless, as the Pats are heavy home favorites, but may be used even more than usual due to the bleak weather forecast at Foxboro.
Current weather conditions expected in Foxboro tomorrow night for Giants/Pats. Rain is a factor, but its impacts will be enhanced with wind gusts expected to reach 30-34 mph.

Anticipate a ton of Sony Michel. I'm thinking a "Property Brothers" marathon will be more watchable. pic.twitter.com/hc0wbEaSzi
While rain isn't always a huge factor in the passing game, combining that with heavy wind is way more of a deterrent. With gusts as high as 34 mph expected, the Patriots may opt to take the air out of the ball in a game they should win fairly easily.
The Giants have actually allowed the 17th fewest fantasy points to running backs in 2019, as they have been way more vulnerable through the air. Still, they do not possess a formidable run defense, as they have allowed opponents the NFL's 10th most rushing yards per game (130).
The Patriots finally got Sony Michel involved in the passing game yesterday, and he looked like a completely different guy. He didn't make plays like this last season. pic.twitter.com/cn3cpQeNz8

With bad weather on tap and a 42-year-old QB in Tom Brady at the helm, the Patriots could very well go run heavy on Thursday Night Football. If so, Michel has plenty of upside in such a favorable matchup, and he sits 26th among RBs in our Week 6 fantasy football rankings.
