It's been 12 years, but softball is officially back for the 2021 Tokyo Summer Olympic Games. Softball last appeared in the 2008 Olympics and fans everywhere are gearing up to tune in to the sport's official Olympic comeback.

Opening Round: Wednesday, July 21 - Monday, July 26

Softball Olympics 2021 Rules

Each country will play the other five teams in the Opening Round. The teams will then be seeded based on records for the Gold Medal and Bronze Medal games.

Bases are 60 feet apart and the pitcher's rubber is 43 feet away. The pitcher must throw the ball underhand and games are contested over seven untimed innings. If a game is tied after seven innings, extra innings will be played until one team ends an inning with the lead.
