Sixers’ Dynamic Duo on Pace to Make NBA History

While there are lots of great star pairings in the NBA right now, there's not quite another tandem like Joel Embiid and James Harden. The Philadelphia 76ers' dynamic duo has really clicked this year, helping Philly to the third-best record in the Eastern Conference so far (37-19).
In fact, they could end up making NBA history by the time the dust settles.
Joel Embiid (33.2) ranks 2nd in PPG and James Harden (10.8) ranks 1st in APG this season. They could be the first pair of teammates to lead the NBA in PPG and APG since 1981-82 (George Gervin, Johnny Moore for the Spurs). pic.twitter.com/mamZxJ75SA

Philadelphia 76ers News
After leading the NBA in scoring last year at 30.6 points per game, Embiid is having an even bigger year in the scoring department with 33.2 points per game. That puts him in a dead heat with Luka Doncic for the scoring title, who's also averaging 33.2 points per game for the Dallas Mavericks but may see that number drop a bit with the arrival of Kyrie Irving.
Meanwhile, Harden has been more than happy to facilitate Embiid's scoring. The three-time scoring champ has become much more selfless during the second half of his career and currently leads the NBA with 10.8 assists per game.
If Harden keeps it up and Embiid overtakes Doncic for the scoring title, they'll become the first pair of teammates to lead the NBA in those two categories since George Gervin and Johnny Moore did so for the San Antonio Spurs during the 1981-82 season.
The question is whether that will be enough to carry the Sixers to their first championship since 1983. They currently have the sixth-best odds on FanDuel Sportsbook's NBA odds, but time will tell if Harden and Embiid can maintain their impressive play in the postseason.
