With most of the 2019 British Open field's first round in the books, we've already got our first dark horse on the rise in Shane Lowry.

Lowry finished Thursday's opening round at 4-under par after shooting a 67 to lead the entire Open Championship field as of Thursday morning, and his odds to win this weekend's tournament certainly reflected it, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

After opening as a heavy dark horse prior to Thursday's start, Lowry's current odds to win the British Open have quickly risen to +1200, past the likes of contenders such as Dustin Johnson (+1400) and Jordan Spieth (+1400).

In fact, Lowry is now tied with Jon Rahm (+1200) and Justin Rose (+1200) for the second-best odds of winning the Open Championship, behind only Brooks Koepka (+500), who is sitting 2-under par through the eighth hole.

While Sunday's final is a long way from Thursday morning, it's never a bad sign to finish the first day ahead of the pack if you're a player like Lowry.
