Shamorie Ponds Stats

One of the most productive guards in the nation over the past three years, Shamorie Ponds finally declared for the 2019 NBA Draft after yet another great year with St. John's during the 2018-19 season.

The 20-year-old guard finished his collegiate career as one of the Red Storm's most prolific scorers, averaging 19.5 points per game in college (96 games). Additionally, Ponds averaged 2.3 steals per game and 4.3 assists per game with St. John's.

Ponds' court vision, high defensive motor and scoring ability have been well-documented throughout his collegiate career. However, there are still a few concerns that could limit the 20-year-old guard's career at the next level. Ponds' lack of size has been a major concern for scouts and his dependency on his left hand could cause trouble for him at the next level.

Shamorie Ponds NBA Draft Predictions

Minnesota Timberwolves (No. 43), Sacramento Kings (No. 53)

The Minnesota Timberwolves really struggled to get production out of their shooting guards after trading Jimmy Butler to the Philadelphia 76ers early last season. Ponds' is a point guard by trade, but his scoring ability and play off the ball should allow for a seamless transition to a rotational role at the shooting guard spot in the backcourt.

The Sacramento Kings have Buddy Hield and De'Aaron Fox firmly entrenched as the their starting guards, but the backcourt could use some depth going forward. Ponds has a versatile enough skill set to play either position in the backcourt, giving the Kings a viable reserve option whenever Hield or Fox head to the bench.
