The Seattle Seahawks are widely expected to be entering a rebuilding period after trading away franchise quarterback Russell Wilson earlier this month. The good news is that the team is projected to have over $49.8 million in available cap space to use in order to draw free agents in.

There is no shortage of positions that could use upgrading on this roster, but the offensive line sticks out due to its lack of depth and overall talent. That is why the Seahawks should do whatever it takes to steal offensive lineman Austin Corbett away from the divisional rival Los Angeles Rams.

Seahawks Free Agency

Seattle allowed the eighth-most sacks in the NFL last season (46.0) and constantly gave up pressure on passing plays. To make matters worse, the Seahawks are set to lose starters Duane Brown, Brandon Schell and Ethan Pocic to the open market. The need for replacements has become crucial.

Corbett fits the Seahawks future plans much more than some other free agent linemen simply because he is only 26 years old. Seattle can commit to him with a huge long-term deal, which cannot be said about other NFL teams. Spotrac lists Corbett's market value at $8.7 million per year.

The four-year pro has started every game for the Rams over the past two years and has given up only 4 sacks during that span (2,201 snaps in 33 games). He only drew six penalties, too. Corbett's career has suddenly jumpstarted as he continues to prove that he can be a reliable NFL starter.

The Seahawks will look to be successful heading in a new direction this upcoming season and adding a player like Corbett to the mix would be beneficial in numerous ways. Seattle remains a long shot to win Super Bowl 57 at +8000 odds, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
