Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson only appeared in four games during the 2021 season due to a lingering neck injury that knocked him out of action. Carson eventually had surgery at the end of the year to hopefully fix the issue and help him return at the start of the 2022 campaign.

The latest update on Carson, though, is incredibly concerning.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said Tuesday the team is in a "wait and see" period as Carson works his way back to the field. Carroll stressed there's a question of "whether or not he can take the hits" when Carson does return, which is far from a promising outlook.
Given the nature of the injury, and how that area can easily be aggravated, it appears Carson has an uphill battle to return to his old self. He proved he's electric when healthy, totaling over 1,300 yards from scrimmage during the 2018 and 2019 seasons, but it remains to be seen what he looks like if he does return.
Carson's recovery will one of the biggest storylines for Seattle heading into training camp. Newly re-sign RB Rashaad Penny could be in line to start from the jump if Carson isn't 100% by Week 1.
