Santa Anita Horse Racing Picks for Sunday 1/29/23

The Santa Anita Classic Meet continues, and Sunday features 9 races including the Grade 2 San Vicente Stakes. Post time to start the day at 3:30 p.m. ET.

According to numberFire horse racing projections, these are the best bets to make at FanDuel Racing today.

1. Gilmore and Havnameltdown, Race 2

Race 2 is the $200,000 Grade 2 San Vicente Stakes for 3-year-olds going 7 furlongs. Just five runners, and the numberFire data projects the heavy favorites Havnameltdown (6/5) and Faustin (8/5) to finish 1-2 for a cold exacta. Both are trained by conterversial trainer Bob Baffert, along wtih Fort Warren (3/1) and Gilmore (6/1). Baffert has four horses in the race, and he's the leading trainer at the meet. Top jockey Juan Hernandez has 25 wins (next closest 9) and he rides Havnameltdown.

In four stars, Havnameltdown has won three, all at Del Mar, including a pair of Grade 3 races with his recent in November wire-to-wire and a 100 speed figure. He also has two strong bullet works in the morning this month.

Faustin won his only race here last month with a 96 speed figure and now faces winners for the firs time. Gilmore also moves up off his maiden win, and has a blistering 5 furlong bullet work two weeks ago.

2. Geaux Rocket Ride and Uncle Jake, Race 3

Race 3 is a Maiden Special Weight for 3-year-olds sprinting 6 furlongs. The numberFire alrorithm picks Uncle Jake (3/1) with Hernandez/Baffert combo to win. Ever a Rebel (3/1) can battle for the win in front of the heavy favorite, Sonoran (4/5), another Baffert runner with first time Lasix and HOF rider Johnny Velazquez aboard.

Top Race Reports likes Geaux Rocket Ride (5/1) making his debut ridden by leading jockey Flavien Prat for most respected trainer Richard Mandella. He's a son of the great Candy Ride.

3. Grazed My Heart and Hialeah Hottie, Race 4

Race 4 is a Starter Optional Claimer ($50k) for 3-year-old fillies sprinting 6 furlongs on the turf. The numberFire data picks Hialeah Hottie (4/1) to win ahead of the favorite, Grazed My Heart (9/5), whom Top Race Reports picks on top with jockey Hector Berrios riding.
